HitraMat AS is located at Hitra Fiskerihavn which is the largest catch area for crabs in Norway, with great environmental benefits such as clean air and clean sea water. This helps to provide very good conditions for crab and helps to give Hitra crab an amazing quality. It is a very short distance from the fishing areas to the production on Kuøya. Hitra is an island in Trønderlag which has a long tradition concerning fishing and the production of edible crab. It has since 1930 been run crab and production of crab. During the season, from June to December, crab fishermen deliver crabs of superior quality. In 2012, 3 150 tons of edible crab were processed in HitraMat AS, Europe's most modern factory for crabs, built in 2002. HitraMat AS er lokalisert på Hitra Fiskerihavn og ligger i det største fangstområdet for taskekrabbe i Norge, med gode miljømessige fortrinn som ren luft og rent sjøvann. Dette er med på å gi svært gode oppvekstvilkår for krabbe, og det er dette som er med på å gi Hitrakrabben en fantastisk kvalitet. Det er svært kort avstand fra fangstfeltene til produksjonsanlegget på Kuøya. Hitra er ei øy i Trønderlag som har lange tradisjoner når det kommer til fiske og produksjon av krabbe. I sesongen fra juni til desember, leverer fiskerne daglig krabbe av førsteklasses kvalitet. I 2012 ble 3.150 tonn krabbe videreforedlet ved anlegget som sto nytt i 2002 og er Europas mest moderne fabrikk for krabbe.
